What are the odds? A military marriage to a foreign bride?

I have a friend who recently got married. She’s from Asia, and never lived outside her country before. She married a military man here in the States. I know that they’re facing a lot of difficulties (him being stationed somewhere else for long periods of time). I hear it’s bad enough for a military marriages to survive with both people being from the same country. What are the odds that they’ll stay together?

I hope that they last forever but my ex boyfriend used to be in the military and I know how hard it was for us. I know that military relationships are not easy at all so I wish them the best of luck.

The odds don’t depend on the “military” part or the “foreign” part. It depends on how strong their love is. I’ve been with my husband for 3 years. He is in the military. For two of those years he lived in a different state. We got married one year ago. Over the past 12 months he has spent 9 in Iraq and will be there for 6 more. Our love is stronger than ever and our marriage will survive. Both people have to be committed and willing to deal with many trials and tribulations and not always being together.

Depends on the couple. My cousin married a woman from Italy while he was stationed there nearly 15 years ago and they are still quite happy together. He recently retired. Her biggest issue was learning English with all the weird slang we use and getting used to his very large sometimes rude family.
