That would be Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase.

Plot synopsis
The story is about the relationship between freelance photographer Kouhei Morioka and Hazuki, a teenager who descends from a royal vampire lineage. At the beginning of the story, Kouhei travels to a castle in Germany to take photographs of paranormal phenomena for his friend Hiromi, who is the editor of an occult magazine. At the castle, Kouhei meets Hazuki, who feeds on Kouhei’s blood and claims him as her unwilling servant. Although this “blood pact” is supposed to bind Kouhei to Hazuki as her obedient slave, her act has no effect on Kouhei. Following an action packed sorcerers battle, in which Kouhei and his cousin manage to free Hazuki from her captivity in the dreary castle, Hazuki travels to Tokyo, and takes up residence with Kouhei in his grandfather’s house in Japan. Hazuki claims that, because she fed on his blood, Kouhei is now her servant, but Kouhei continually refuses to obey her, especially when he thinks her requests are unreasonable. Despite their fighting, the relationship between the duo progresses over time – even in the face of repeated attacks by opposing vampires – until Kouhei becomes determined to protect Hazuki from the vampire servants of her family, who are determined to retrieve her by whatever means necessary.

Hope this helps!

Vampires In Real Life

Vampires In Real Life
HOT Real Life VAMPIRE! (11.15.09 – Day 199)

Vampire Questions:

What Do You Suppose Fuels Our Ongoing Literary Romance With Vampires?

Of all mythological beings, the vampire seems to be the one that has best captured our literary interest. Many books are written about fairies and elves, but they seem to remain in the realm of genre fiction. The vampire, on the other hand, long ago moved out of the horror genre and into the mainstream. Additionally, there is a healthy underground of real-life vampires, from those who feed on energy, to those who feed on blood. I have yet to read anything about people who believe themselves to be elves or gnomes.

Why do you think that the vampire, of all mythological beings, has captured our imagination so?

I think it is more a fascination with the darker side of ourselves. While elves and gnomes are generally considered to be nonhuman, a vampire is what? A human turned vampire, immortal, preying upon his own kind. Despising the frailty of his prey he uses them to bring about his own immortality. We all have that darker side, the transformation into a Vampire, I think, is just an example of that. Everytime he feeds, despite the romantic notions of not killing when feeding, he destroys that weakness.

The Recent Vampire Craze: An Explanation of the Creatures Showing Up on Your HD TV

In the 1990s, the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a cult hit.  Based on an 1980s film with the same name, it attracted millions of viewers and ran for several years – despite its somewhat cliché subject.  Though its following was less-than mainstream (and that of its spin-off Angel even less so), it earned a place in American television and pop culture history, receiving critical acclaim for its use of vampires and demons as metaphors for the challenges of growing up.

After the era of Buffy came and went, many assumed that the theme of vampires, at least for a while, would disappear, too.  In recent months, however, these mythical creatures have come front and center.  From Twilight to True Blood to The Vampire Diaries, vampire-themed television shows and films have become all the rage.  More and more television watchers find themselves switching their high definition televisions to HBO to watch True Blood and flocking to theaters to see Twilight than ever before.  And while before, vampire-themed entertainment was somewhat taboo, today, it is more popular than ever.

What does this recent obsession with these creatures that have existed in myths and fairy tales for hundreds of years mean?  There is no clear answer.

A most obvious and perhaps correct answer is that this vampire rage is simply a fad.  With the success of the Twilight book series and subsequent films, it is easy to argue that many in the entertainment business simply jumped on the bandwagon in hopes of making a quick buck.  With the increasing popularity of satellite TV, television stations are competing harder than ever for viewers’ attention.  Knowing that the attention and interest of audiences has been piqued by the vampires of Twilight, writers and producers hope that similarly themed shows have a similar effect.  Much like the reality craze of the 1990s, the vampire craze may be nothing more than simple domino effect.

There are, however, other explanations.  Though vampires have recently reemerged with a great amount of force in media and entertainment, they have been a fixture of storytelling for hundreds of years.  Vampires appear in stories that date back hundreds of years ago.  The myths of wooden stakes, crosses, garlic and sunlight are drawn from tales told long, long ago.  Maybe, the inclusion of these blood-sucking creatures in our literature and cultures actually says something about us.

What, of course, the existence of vampires in our mythology could mean is tough to pinpoint.  One possible explanation for the current craze, however, could be linked to the reality of the world around us.  In a world that seems to be increasingly in crisis, mythological and incredible tales serve as an escape.  Vampires and demons serve as manifestations of the evils we face in real life – war, crime, poverty, etc.  We switch our HD TVs to these mythological shows in part to escape from often much darker realities.

When we tell stories about these creatures, demonizing them but also giving them depth and complexity, we also tell stories about ourselves.  Vampires will not be disappearing from satellite TV anytime soon, but that may be a good thing after all.

Vampires In American History

Twilight New Moon Take Vampire Saga To New Heights

The Twilight Saga first wowed audiences in book format, as teenagers were enthralled by the dark romance in Stephanie Meyer’s vampire novels. However, as the fang-fever spread and the popularity of the stories became apparent, the decision was made – much to the delight of the books’ many fans – that they would also be made into motion pictures. The first Twilight film hit the screens in 2008 and its fabulous reception ensured that a sequel would follow. Luckily, Meyer has four novels in the series, so film producers didn’t have to look far for a way to replicate the success of the first film.

And so the Twilight Saga: New Moon film went into production. Eagerly awaited by fans, the New Moon instalment in the Twilight tale opened in cinemas at the end of 2009. The film includes many of the same characters that made so many fall in love with the first film, including Bella Swan and her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen.

However, it also sees the further introduction of her friendship with Jacob Black, who she discovers to be a werewolf. The rivalry between the two characters split the affections of fans and created a fad for taking the side of one over the other. Many Twilight fans will defend their positions passionately and it’s possible to buy Team Edward or Team Jacob T-shirts so fans can show which side they are on.

The leading actors Robert Pattinson as Edward, Kirsten Stewart as Bella and Taylor Lautner as Jacob returned for the second film in the saga and have been propelled into the spotlight on the back of the popular franchise. The franchise has proved very popular indeed, the midnight opening of the film set records as the biggest in Canadian and American history and knocked other popular teen film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince off the top spot.

New Moon, as the second film in the saga, sets up a cliff-hanger for the next, while providing many thrills and spills of its own. The drama largely centres on the relationship between Bella and Edward, but supernatural elements and dark forces ensure it’s far from the average teenage romance. The next film in the series – The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – will arrive in the summer of 2010 while the Twilight New Moon DVD is set to hit the shelves this spring to slake the thirst of vampire-hungry fans the world over.

Second Life: Ima Goin to the Courts

The wild fire of Second life continues to amazes me. Everybody is jumping in and everyday anther international corporation is joining. Even my boss would like to see me inside this virtual life whoring arena…

I’m not doing it, I refuse, you can not make me have a third life with Second Life.

Actually, my boss could drag me into it rather I liked it or not. However, I got him where it hurts. I told him the only way I would allow part of my real life to be vampirically sucked by virtual cats, foxes and other members of the virtual race would be if he bought me the second computer or laptop with all the bells, bows and whistles. He hasn’t brought up the subject again…yet.

So who is the newest Second Life Vampire?

The National Basketball Association… Now, you too can pretend you’re a big bad sexy cat basketball playing mutha! Match sure your tail stays in bounds, I believe that’s still considered a foul.

Here’s the ironic tid bit of news…

After signing a deal with Google to host its highlights on YouTube, the NBA enlisted the services of virtual-world content creator Electric Sheep to build an NBA headquarters in Second Life. According to a NBC Representative it’s cool and hip interactive. Can I hear a YO!

Does anyone else find the humor that a company called Electric Sheep is the favored creator for virtual worlds?

It gets better. The NBA ‘playground’ has games and features “designed to bring people back.” The grounds includes a 3-D simulation of NBA games where users can sit in the stands and are able to change their viewpoint with ease. But to really sweeten the deal after the big boys are done playing, us mere virtual fan boys / girls can take to the courts to play a game of H.O.R.S.E. Yippee! I can play sports in a virtual world instead of going to the courts to play it for realz.

It’s no surprise that Second Life’s Linden Labs is overflowing in enthusiasm for their newest citizens. NBA fans will be able to join SL from the NBA web site and start playing H.O.R.S.E.

For what I can only guess is an attempt at realism of the courts, the virtual playground is sponsored by T-Mobile, Toyota and Cisco Systems. I can understand the T-Mobile and Cisco Systems sponsorship, but Toyota?

“Yo, dude stop trying to crack in on my H.O.R.S.E playing time… I’m on R muthafucker!’
