I am in the process of reading a book called vamped by David Sosnowski. its about the population of humans vs. vampires balance switching from few vampires to few humans. anyway a young vampire finds a young mortal girl and wants to “snack” on her but ends up raising her as his daughter. The real problem is that the vampires cant know she is in his tiny apartment. the facts and descriptions of vampires would prove any semi vamp freak take a second look at the life or “death” of a vampire like the only truth about those myths was that they can be killed by sunlight which also causes problems for him to raise her. more of a rated r movie because of the excessive language but still a good book. still whadya think?

there is always room for a storyline like that in Hollywood, Paramount, Warner Brother, Gemstone.

Learning the Times Tables – What are the Best Methods?

With so many fads and myths concerning learning the multiplication tables, it may be hard to sort through them and find the ones that have the most meaning for you, your child, or your students.

There are several factors you should consider while looking for the methods that fit your needs. And remember, when you are learning a new skill, it’s good idea to try more than one strategy. The “shut-up-and-learn-it” strategy is the one used by many public schools in the United States. It’s no mystery, then, why the U.S. lags behind most of the world in elementary math skills. Luckily, your child doesn’t have to be at that low level.

When searching online or elsewhere for a way to learn the multiplication tables, you might consider the following points.

The strategy should not:

• Be taught with the use of a calculator – ever. Calculators were invented by vampires to suck school-children’s brains out. They are crutches. You wouldn’t give crutches to healthy child, would you?
• Be dependent on memory (mnemonic) gimmicks like rhymes or songs. Such things may have a short-term effect, but they don’t help develop a sense for numbers. And, as mnemonic devices, they are usually not very good ones. If you depend only on those gimmicks, the child will neither develop a deep understanding of multiplication, nor mnemonics. (When you get to more advanced manipulation of numbers, mnemonic devices can be very helpful – but for basics like the times tables, it has been shown in studies that they are more of a distraction from the actual material than an real aid.
• Be such a drag that the child will always consider math as a boring drudgery.
• Be just another way for some corporation to inculcate your child with its Saturday morning lineup of cartoon characters. Math itself can be fun, but not just because some animated corporate lackey tells your child it is. Be wary that your child doesn’t get into the habit of only doing homework if it involves consumer toys or icons.

The strategy should:

• Emphasize understanding of the concept of multiplication, not simply memorization of some “facts”.
• Be firmly grounded on the concept that multiplication of whole numbers is simply repeated addition.
• Be based on more than one sense. Just doing worksheets is not enough. If you repeatedly hear multiplication problems as well as see them, you learn how to deal with them with more than one sense. That “locks in” the skill.
• Foster a sense for numbers. In other words, it should illustrate the relationship between the digits to be multiplied, and more familiar numbers, such as number ten. For example, 5 x 6 is the same as half of 10 x 6.

Children can tell when you value their minds. They learn to respect themselves when you don’t pander to them. PC games bring out the kid in all of us. The Chronicles of Spellborn is set to be released on November 27, 2008. It is the latest in MMORPG’S. So, pull up a computer chair and immerse yourself in a brand new universe. In this unique game, the world has been war ravaged. It’s up to you to go on quests and political missions and start to pick up the pieces from all the destruction. You can customize your fighting style completely. You can even customize your character’s appearance and control the interactive world around you. So settle in for some exciting adventures!

Next, for the action game addict, there’s Prince of Persia 2008. It’s set to be released on December 2, 2008. Any serious gamer is probably familiar with the Prince of Persia title. What does this newest installment have to offer, though?

Well, in this new version, when a sand storm kicks up th prince finds himself lost in a beautiful garden. He then teams up with a girl named Elika to try to fight Ahriman, the ancient god of darkness. The fighting in POP 2008 is much like the fighting in the original POP series. So, fans of the original might like this one-on-one fighting style. Instead of being swarmed by enemies, you can focus on one at a time, for the most part.

Then there’s A Vampyre Story, which is set to be released on December 2, 2008. It follows Mona De Lafitte, an opera singer. Did I mention that she’s also a vampire trying to find her way home to Paris? A singing vampire may be unique, but how about one who is followed around by a bat named Froderick? Now you’re talking! If you or someone you know likes vampire stories, this is the game for you!

Finally, there’s Starcraft II. As you may know, Starcraft was an insanely popular release in 1998. Well, now Blizzard is releasing Starcraft II, which is actually going to be a trilogy of games. The exact release date seems to be in question. Rumors place it as early as December 2, 2008, though.

Imagine Starcraft with a more multiplayer spin and you’ll have Starcraft II. The coolest new feature is that there are plans to do a fair matching system where players are paired up with people that have equal strength. So, if you enjoyed Starcraft and enjoy multiplayer gaming, check out Starcraft II.

I’m looking for a website that can keep a 15 year old girl who’s into books (Harry Potter-ish, vampire), music and personality quizzes. Anybody got anything? I’d really appriciate(sp?) any suggestions.

Check out the Beacon Street Girls website, specifically created for girls by the creators of the Beacon Street Girls book series — all kinds of games, activities, crafts, contests, quizzes and, if you join the free online club, you can post messages (safely), get and give advice from girls all over the world. Plus the Beacon Street Girls (from the books) reply to messages too. I like the Moviemaker game and the dress up games too. They have new stuff all the time — they have lots of good discussions on things like clothes, friends, school and stuff. Right now, everyone is hanging out in the Tower Clubs on Beacon Street. There is a book club and a whole bunch of girls hanging out and talking about HP right now.

Twilight Party Ideas have become more and more popular as time goes on since Stephenie Meyer published her book series, Twilight.  Tweens and Teenagers have gone wild over this human and vampire romance story. It’s is easy to understand too.  Who wouldn’t want dreamy Edward Cullen, the almost perfect mate….even if he is a vampire! 

With the popularity of Twilight, more and more teenagers want to use Twilight party ideas to create a unique and interesting theme for their parties…birthdays, Halloween or just any “I-feel-like-wanting-to-throw-a-party” occasion.

So where do you find good Twilight party ideas? It’s easy. Read the books and get your party ideas right from them.  Begin with your color scheme…black and red…and white.  Just look at the book covers and you will begin to get ideas from them.  Use these basic colors for your decorations and your party supplies…the table cloths, plates, invitations…everything!

On the cover of the first book, Twilight, there is a red apple.  So put apples all over the table. Put them in fruit bowls set on the table or put one next to each place setting, or even right on top of every plate.

Do you own the Twilight Soundtrack or DVD?  It would be the perfect music for this party theme.  If not, why not download some of the soundtrack songs.  You can do that for free online.   Choose “Super Massive Black Hole” or “Bella’s Lullaby” and of course, don’t forget Linkin Park and Muse!  Play the movie for party background noise.

Even though the Cullen’s are not Fang bearing blood suckers you can wear vampire fangs and some sparkle make up.  If you really want to play the part you can get some FX Vampire Lenses for your eyes.  They come in all colors and designs and are really hypnotic to look at.  

If you have a few Twilight posters, or can buy a couple, they would go far as decorations for your party room.  You can also use pictures of the cast and characters cut out from magazines and put into picture frames. 

Twilight Games!  Of course, no party is complete unless you play some fun games. Twilight trivia and quizzes are very popular amongst the Tween and Teen age fan group.  Just go through the books to get some questions and quotes to use. I’ve heard there was even a Twilight board game, but have never seen one myself.  Have you? Is it any good?

Using these fun Twilight ideas might just make you the Party Queen to your Twi-hard friends.  series.  I’m sure, since most Twilight fans are very creative people, you can come up with a lot more fun ideas for your party. Make sure to have fun…since that is what a party is all about.  remember.
