Well, make sure that you’re like, best friends with the vampire – I dunno, if you really want to, fall in love with him/her. Anyhow, just keep out at it and be patient when they’re best buddies.
If all else fails, there is actually a cheat that converts them without the long process, I can’t remember it off the top of my head but you could google it to check…

try to be close to them at night every night
it has to be at night
then when they bite you… wa-la !
if you’re bitten, dont forget that they die when theyre in sunlight.

Your Sim needs to make friends with another vampire then wait to be bitten (it happens autonomously). You can also have a Sim influence a vampire to bite another Sim. Two Grand Vampires appear randomly at Downtown community lots at night (they are dressed in vampire garb, are slightly grey and cover their faces with an arm).
