It makes them feel better to think they are/they know someone with superior abilities to humans.

I think people are so interested in vampires because of the seduction of it all. Living forever yet tormented by that too. And although I’ve never read the the twilight books I did read some by Ann Rice and she can make it look so good. And who does not want to get away from ordinary life just a little?
I’ll be thumbed down for this. But I do believe some types of vampire’s do exist. I just don’t think anyone is prepared for what it would REALLY be like.

I personally like the immortality of it all. By the way I’m a
big Anne Rice fan.

Vampires represent an erotic aspect of the human nature, the nibbling of the neck, the draining of physical energy are aspects of human sexuality. The vampire also represent freedom from death bound to tragedy, and eternal love. The fear of the darkness and night to which we are venerable is like a roller coaster ride, terrifying yet exhilarating.

It’s because all the thirteen year old girls have read the “Twilight” series. They look around for there “Edward,” and cannot find him within arms reach. They then decide to search on the internet for a vampire of there own. Then, when they find a pale skinned “perfect guy” who tries ever so hard not to look at her like a piece of meat, she falls deeply in love. However, he’s probably really a six thousand year old Ekimmu serial rapist who has a thing for little girls. Within a week of Breaking Dawn’s release found a dozen young women, all taken advantage of by the long nailed, pale skinned beasts that roam the night.
Sometimes I really think some books should be banned.

The whole vampire subject is like a roller coaster in the popularity’s of things: t.v. shows, books, movies, etc. The subject either skyrockets into those things and hook people in with the fiction that’s made-up, or it gets boring and plummets.
The subject of vampires hits many points of interest in society: romance, violence, mystery, and beauty.
There have actually been many people to become vampire philosophers, that spend years studying on the myths that have come up about them in countless countries. So, not many people know the true-truth of them(whether you believe them to be real or not). I suppose you’d have to be a vampire yourself to see what pretenses are correct and which aren’t.

Because Vamps have been romanticized for so long now that many people think it is cool. For example Bram Strokes (spelling ?) Dracula shows him able to seduce woman with a look just about, then we have Anna Rice as well as the TV shows Buffy and Angel.

If you’ll notice, it’s not really “so many”, it’s just the same 1 or 2, maybe 3. Again and again and again…
The population in general doesn’t have this fascination, though it’s more popular among teenage girls than any other category of people.
I think it’s kind of a cool fascination. Who knows what stories these girls might come to write as young women?
