I am just curious. I saw the movie twilight and thought it was a decent movie. But the interest in vampires started a while before that. What does everyone see that I don’t.

read the books, it’ll make a little more sense. But I’m still thoroughly creeped out by the people who now think they will marry a drop-dead-gorgeous romantic vampire when they grow up…

Vampirism has always been a romantic subject since the mid 1800s — possibly even earlier than that. As to the why, it is very pleasing to have your neck kissed, both for men and for women, and many consider a bite to be much like a kiss, even though it isn’t. There is more to it than that, of course, but that’s the basis from which it all starts, IMHO.

Read the book. It is more intense. And vampires are supposed to be the hot and sexy vampires who have the most amazing romantic personalities. I know I’m in love with Edward Cullen and he’s a hotty. So, what do people see in the romance vampire genre? They see the most amazing creatures everyone has ever imagined.

They are seeing what the author wants them to see—it sells the books and the movie.

I will tell you this stay on yahoo answers long enough and you will notice one of the most popular questions is “Are there any real vampires out there who will turn me?”,yes i know it sounds completely ridiculous but i see it all the time.Or my other favorite one is “where can i find a vampire mentor”?There is a degree to where vampires exist in modern society but not like in the movies or books that are so popular. In my opinion, vampirism is a way of life, not a reality of life, considering traditionaly vampires are known as the undead, but i think danger intrigues people along with the onknown. What would we all do all the time without some mystery in our lives.

There is an “emo” explosion accompanying this recession and vampires embody the blood-sucking mantra of capitalist bailouts, corporate outsourcing, and scabworkers…. the perils of death are eminent! (dracula, grim reaper, zombies, etc….

Anne Rice. Stephanie Meyer. Stephen King.
They helped the movement, but I think it’s just human curiosity. Maybe the belief in vampires gives them hope that life doesn’t really end with death.

    VAMPIRES! AHH!!

Well, my thing with vampires isn’t really new… but for a lot of people Twilight is what got them interested in vampires. Also, most books, movies, and shows about vampires have completely switched from being about horrible, ugly, murderous monsters to being about attractive, non-killing vampires who actually have a human personality, plus awesome abilities.
