They.. uh, i mean we… are not greedy. When i was a kid I thought my China-born mom was greedy. She wanted a better salary, better grades from me and my brothers, etc etc.
You can’t judge people though. She walked 12 f*cking miles every day just to get to ELEMENTARY school. America is like hope for her.
I know I sound biased but it’s so true (and I love my mom).

What is wrong with you? It’s like saying all men are lazy, arrogant, unsensitive etc. or all women are unsuitable for high position jobs.
Sometimes you have to understand another person’s background to understand why they behave that way. Most Chinese in the Western part of the world are immigrants. This means they arrived with very little or no money. They have to work very, very hard and scrimp on daily necessities to be able to save up some money. Most of them do not keep the money for themselves but for their children, hoping that it will give them an advantage when they grow up. Most Chinese women are very careful with money. They save up not to splurge on fancy things but for the family, to be brought out for emergencies or a rainy day.
And Metairie Girl is right. Most older Chinese (not only women, although they do get it worse sometimes) do not have the access to education. They know how difficult it is to be uneducated. That is why they push their children to work hard and excel so that their children can have a better future. They do not want their children to turn out like them. Chinese place a lot of emphasis on their children and are willing to sacrifice a lot for them. They see their children as an extension of themselves and their lifes, a legacy of theirs that will live on after they die. Most of what they do are for their kids.
I hope you learn to see other people from their point of view, to learn to put yourself in their shoes. Don’t generalise. It is an insult to other people and yourself. You should know better than that.
A note to Q: I bet you can’t speak Chinese, not even any one of its dialects and I bet you are no looker yourself. If you have nothing constructive to say, DON’T. You are just displaying how ignorant you are.

Not really greedy but people having/had a hard time are more money-minded. In the past, most Chinese are poor so are pretty minded on money matters. Nowadays, China is a very materialistic society.
Money is important in Chinese culture. At Chinese New Year, the Chinese does not say “Happy new year”, but “Wish you big fortune”

Most Chinese women are hard-working and virtuous, they were ethnic Chinese who have the traditional virtues.
