I believe in superstition..but I don’t think that vampires exist.I believe in ghosts and stuff but not vampires..

There is a rare disorder known as PORPHYRIA which involves a deficiency in the enzymes involved in the synthesis of a substance in the body called heme, which is found in large amounts in the bone marrow, red blood cells, and liver. This enzyme deficiency allows normal body chemicals called porphyrins to accumulate in toxic amounts in the body.
It was believed that certain individuals who had this disease consumed blood to compensate in an era when no other treatment or even knowledge of this disease was available. These people were then ostracized by society and thought of as “vampires” similar to the witches of Salem or the Elephant man. I believe that rumors, disbelief and general fear by the public led to creation of “vampires”.

All that nonsense is really about Religious Fear and PURE poverty..
Especially for women being poor to destitute ..
Rye flour was cheep very cheep but would spoil fast in the damp climate of the Islands,, the mold caused hallucinations..
As for vampires it is all pure fiction..
