What happens when a vampire goes out in the sun?
Lisa R asked:
Hey everyone! My brother and I are having a debate on what happens to a vampire when he/she goes out into the sun and i say that the vampire sparkles but he said that he/she turns to dust or turns to stone. I just want to see what people will say!

They die a painful death or suffer some temporary state of impairment (ie, turning to dust, stone, burning till death, turning to smoke for a moon cycle…). At least, in all the vampire things of mention.

I think the dust/stone is more realistic. Remember, vampires are creatures of the night, not shiny diamonds as Meyer portrays them. I always thought they burnt to a crisp.

the burn and turn to ash. they do not sparkle they arent fairys
and True Immortals can stay in the sun for as long as they want
True Immortals = the ones who drank alexander Corvinus’s blood as Underworld states.

Normal vampires should turn into dust when hit by the sun’s rays. The “sparkling like diamonds” was only created to make them seem more intriguing to us — but remember that vampires are supposed to be creatures of the night, not something perfect that only gets killed by fire or something.

Hahaha, wow.
I say they sparkle. I’m sure if I asked someone who didn’t read Twilight, they’d say that they turn to dust and burn painfully.
I say sparkle… I’m open for debate, however

There are all sorts of answers. Bram Stoker’s Dracula strides through Picadilly Circus during the daytimewithout any ill effect. In some movies, decades of decay that have been held off by the vampire’s curse abruptly manifest themselves. In Buffy The Vampire Slayer, they combust.

I’ve read everything from where they turn to stone, turn into dust, sparkle, burst into flames, etc.
It all depends on the imagination of the author.
Saying vampires are not real no one will ever know what actually happens to them. That’s why god gave us an imagination.
One author may say they burst into flames. Another may say sparkle. The next one you run into could swear they turn to dust. None are wrong. That’s the beautiful thing about fictional books……..you can never be wrong.
*If all Vampires were the same…what would be the fun in that?

It depends on WHO’s vampires you are talking about..
In Southern Vampire Mysteries they start to burn up
In Anita Blake they can’t as their bodies die with the rising of the sun…but if they get taken or left in the sun they fry
Dracula I believe they catch fire (someone correct me if I am wrong)
In the Argeneau Vampires they get weaker and need to drink more blood but it doesn’t kill them (although some do get killer headaches)
In Buffy and Angel they turn to dust. (Joss Whedon’s)
It really depends on the author and what they’ve decided for their version of the vampire.
Stephenie Meyer’s are the only one’s I’ve ever heard of that sparkle in the sunlight though.

okay so it depends on ur source. in the buffy/angel series along w/ dracula and stuff it says that a vampire turns to dust/bursts into flames. they die again basicly. the only ways 2 kill a vampire r 2 stake it, decapitate it, or bring it into direct sunlight, according 2 these sources. according 2 stephanie meyer they just sparkel, rly brightly!! like a diamond. so it depends on the source k?
Hope this helps!

Tradition vampires start screaming, go very very white, then start gleaming like when you wear night vision goggles in light and sizzle, then they explode like the death star! Except not as loud. And then, burnt to the crisp, they are ashes. Or something like that.
In Stephenie Meyer’s twisted and retarded world, they sparkle. What the hell?! SPARKLY VAMPIRES?! That’s so… so… what’s the word? Gay. I’m not homophobic and have never called something “gay” unless I was referring to someone who was actually lesbian or gay, but sparkly vampires? No other way to describe it. Ever heard of the term “pillow-biter” (Breaking Dawn)? …XD Edward is secretly gay.
In the Sims 2, vampires sizzle and gleam a bit, then after they get really uncomfortable and sleepy and hungry and things, they scream, look at the sun, and explode into a pile of ashes. Or something.
Some turn to stone.
I agree with the traditional vampire way. Makes more sense.

you BOTH are wrong…. (i’m going to talk in first person because its easier) we vampires only get headaches, we don’t burn, turn to ash or stone, we don’t sparkle, we don’t even get sun burns! if we were to sparkle or turn in to ash we would be easily exposed. and twilight messed up the veiw on vampires and those myths about garlic, holy objects, wooden stakes, and silver crap… well sorry to break it to you all but its all wrong.
