What good vampire books would you recommend?

blackslytherin asked:

Hi I am a big fan of vampire books. I love Anne Rice and the Twilight series and I have started reading some L. J. Smith ones but I keep having to buy new vampire books and then I finish them within 24 hours of buying them and I am running out of money. So are there any good books that you would recommend that you have read over and over and still find interesting. I have tried some sites but they confuse me.

To be totally honest, there aren’t a lot of great vampire books out there, in my opinion, that aren’t toally unbelievable and not unique.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova is a great scary story, and is about vampires, but not in a over done way. It’s a big book, but it was great. It may take you a little while to get into it, but it’s worth it in the end.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield isn’t about vampires, but most people who like those stories like this one too.

    Hope that was some help.

Rachel Caine – The Morganville Vampires. Vampires go to college with a 16 year old girl genius. I just did a project with Rachel and she is a very nice person. You will enjoy them. Pax-C

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro has a great series that I have read at least three times over the years. You get to see her vampire grow and develop over the centuries, get to see him go through deep love and lose them, etc. St. Germaine is a wondrous vampire!

Still my favorite horror story: Dracula. Really excellent. Starts out very slowly, but by the time you’ve finished it you’ll wonder why no one ever told you how great it is before now. Free online.

Vampire Academy (series), Vampire Kisses (series), Marked (series), Charlaine Harris’ Dead series (Dead Until Dark). Those are ones I’ve read or am reading. They’re all pretty good.

Oh, and Blood and Chocolate is a werewolf book. There are no vampires in that book.

Blue Bloods. Great book. About upper class teenage vampires in New York. They’re all rich, and they all go to private schools. There are different main characters. Romance involved. Adventure as well
    Sequel is called Masquerade
Third book Revelation comes out in September.
