Best Bloody Vampire Movies Of All Time On Satellite Tv

Nothing personal Twilight, but there was once a time when a good vampire flick meant seeing lots of blood and guts, gore and slaughter, all the good stuff that a quality horror move are made of.  When flipping through the satellite TV channels sometimes one is in for a good scare, that doesn’t involve the sappy, humanistic vampires that are in at the moment.  For great scares from some of the world’s best vampires and gory high definition action, check out these top vampire movie titles.

Underworld (2003).  The audience steps into the midst of a centuries long war being fought between the Vampires and Lycan.  Lovely Selene, a death dealer, must exterminate the last of the Lycan.  Things grow complex, and Selene must make some tough choices about what side she’s willing to stay on.  A great watch in HD, this movie features subtle visual effects.

Blade (and Blade II) (1998 and 2002).  Blade is determined to eliminate evil vampires from the earth, even though he himself is part vampire.  Determined to avenge his mother, Blade sets out on his mission.  At the same time the vampires need Blade’s blood to summon La Magra, the blood god, creating lots of scary moments and plenty of suspense.

The Lost Boys (1987).  When a mom and her two sons Mike and Sam head to a coastal California town to start over, they get more than they’d bargained for with the locals.  Rumors about vampires are dismissed by the boys, until Mike starts acting strangely.  It is up to Sam to save him in the classic 80s teen vampire thriller.

Vampires (1998).  When the Vatican takes on the vampires, known to exist for centuries, things start to get messy.  With dire consequences should they lose, the Vatican enlists the help of Jack Crow, a man who lives for vampire vengeance after seeing his parents killed before his very eyes.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992).  Following the novel, a lawyer is sent to Eastern Europe where he becomes the prisoner of undead vampire Dracula.  Taken with a photo of the lawyer’s young fiancée Mina Murray, Dracula takes off for London and wreaks havoc.

30 Days of Night (2007).  There are places in the very northern corners of Alaska that stay dark for a month each year while the sun stays below the horizon.  Just in time for the sunset a band of vicious vampires attack, with no sunlight to stop them in sight.  When the town sheriff husband and wife team take a stand against the vampires, things start to get super suspenseful.

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). Fleeing from a bank robbery they committed in Texas, the Gecko brothers had no idea they were in for the night of their lives.  All they have to do to be guaranteed freedom is last through the night- which may be easier said than done when vampires are on the attack.

Interview with the Vampire (1994).  When Louis, a New Orleans plantation owner is left widowed by the death of his wife, he is swooped up under the wing of vampire Lestat.  Becoming a vampire himself, Louis quickly sees the error in the vampire way of life, but it is too late.  He refuses to take human life and threatens to leave Lestat, until Lestat uses a little orphan girl turned vampire to make Louis stick around.  The rambling stories of the two weave in and out over the next 200 years showing us the real life struggles of the vampires’ situations.

Shadow of the Vampire (2000).  This film details the strange occurrences that took place while filming Nosferatu-Eine Symphonie des Grauens.  This classic silent horror movie was filmed in 1922 and underwent a great deal of strange goings on, including disappearances and deaths of crew members.  Nothing like a true story to provide a good scare.

Dracula (1931).  Renfield enters a castle after a treacherous ride through the Carpathian mountains of Eastern Europe, and finds himself under the spell of Count Dracula.  The vampire count sucks the blood out of young Lucy Weston after arriving in London with Renfield, then moves on to her friend Mina Seward.  Specialist Dr. Van Helsing is called in, and Dracula’s identity as a vampire is about to be exposed in the struggle to save the young Mina’s soul.

Nosferatu (1922).  In this frightening German black and white classic, Count Orlok moves to Wisburg bringing the plague with him.  As things play out between the characters it becomes clear that Ellen, the wife of realtor Thomas Hutter is the only one with the power to stop the evil.  This silent film proves that high definition effects are no match for good old fashioned creepy horror.
